Climate Action Simulation Game

2-4 hours

12-100 people

icons_location-pin-20px.png

in-person and online

Interactive experience where teams act as global powers. Participants will strive to save the world from the climate crisis, while getting to know each other.

They will:

  • Work together on a common strategy.

    Outcome: improved collaboration.

  • Tackle global issues and resolve conflicts in a dynamic environment.

    Outcome: enhanced problem-solving.

  • Take the lead and champion the most effective actions.

Outcome: a boost in leadership and communication skills.

  • Play different roles, argue, take action and race against the clock to solve the climate crisis.

    Outcome: lots of fun!

The game is based on the most recent climate data, and is powered
by the En-ROADS climate simulator, developed by Climate Interactive and
MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative.

How it works:

1.

Participants represent global interest groups like Energy, Industry, Agriculture and Activists—and need to work together to develop a policy that will limit global warming to 2 degrees. They negotiate from their perspective, trying to mitigate climate change while protecting their interests.

2.

Participants propose measures that may be effective in solving the climate crisis—i.e. boosting energy efficiency or switching to plant-based diets. We assess the impact of these solutions using a science-based tool—the En-ROADS simulator.

3.

Participants discuss the effectiveness of different decarbonization policies, learn about side effects and co-benefits of climate solutions and the synergies between them.

4.

Participants reflect on the climate goals and decarbonization efforts of their company and discuss how they could contribute to them in their professional roles.

Learning outcomes:

During the Climate Action Simulation game participants will:

  • Explore dozens of climate policies, such as promoting renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency, reducing deforestation, etc.

  • See the impact of climate policies on global warming, the frequency of heat waves, sea level rise and air pollution.

  • Learn to think in scenarios and better understand the risks associated with high and low emission futures.

  • Understand the perspectives of different stakeholders and the barriers to global climate action.

  • Explore the role of different sectors in global decarbonization.

  • Recognize that urgent action is needed to meet global climate goals.

Business Transformation Game

1.5-3 hours

4-20 people

icons_location-pin-20px.png

in-person

Serious game to explore the business case for sustainability. Participants lead a fictional company through its sustainability journey, uncovering challenges, quick wins, and long-term benefits.

  • Learn how to make the company profitable and future-proof while achieving sustainability goals.

Outcome: boosting leadership, training systems thinking, identifying links between goals, actions, risks and opportunities.

  • Explore barriers to sustainability implementation and learn to overcome them through cross-department collaboration.
Outcome: training in communication, persuasion, and conflict resolution.

How it works:

1.

Participants represent leaders of the departments of the fictional company: “Tomatopia Inc.”, producer of tomato soup.

2.

Each department leader strives to fulfill their business objectives, while advancing sustainability goals for their department and company as a whole.

3.

In the course of the game participants explore barriers to sustainability implementation, identify synergies between business objectives and sustainable goals, and collaboratively lead the company through a sustainable transformation.

The Documentary Production Experience

4-8 hours

6-30 people

icons_location-pin-20px.png

in-person

Participants film short documentaries on climate-related topics, working as both production crew and film characters, and screen them at an awards ceremony.

They will:

  • Work together on a common goal.

    Outcome: improved collaboration and engagement

  • Take the lead in different aspects of the movie production, from pitching ideas to directing.
Outcome: a boost in leadership and communication skills

  • Collaborate and come up with creative ideas under time and resource pressure.
Outcome: creative problem-solving

  • Assume different roles, argue, take action and race against the clock to film the best documentary!
    Outcome: lots of fun!

How it works:

Participants take full creative control to produce short climate-themed documentaries—stepping in as crew, cast, and storytellers for a fun, hands-on deep dive into the topic.

1.

Participants split into film crews with roles like director, camera operator, or character
(e.g. cleantech startup founder, farmer, CEO of a large manufacturing company).

2.

They’ll create, act, and shoot a short documentary tackling hot climate topics—then screen their films at a fun end-of-day awards ceremony.

3.

It’s hands-on, high-energy, and packed with creativity, role-play, and learning. From energy storage to protein transitions, teams dive into real-world challenges and bring their stories to life.
